A CHARMED CHILDHOOD

Charmed Circle is the creation of Houstonian Gina Cartwright, a charismatic and stylish woman whose passion for jewelry comes from her mother, an avid collector with an eye for the unusual, and her father, an elegant man with an innate sense of style. "Some of my most vivid childhood memories are the times I spent pouring over my mother's collection of jewelry," says Gina. "It was a shared ritual we loved. We had fun admiring various pieces and repeating the stories of the exotic places where they had been purchased. "Her most treasured piece was her mother's charm bracelet, which over the years had become a beautiful and unique history of her life.

One of Gina's dearest jewelry memories occurred during her junior year in college. Gina's father, an exceptional gift-giver, took her into a jewelry store to see the birthday gift he had chosen for her. Gina recalls, "The salesman measured my wrist and placed the bracelet on my arm. It was a bangle that was screwed in place and not meant to be removed." It was a Love Bracelet. Gina has never taken that bracelet off. It even stayed in place during the births of her four children. "Nothing could make me remove it!" She laughs. "I have to allow five extra minutes to go through airport security because I ‘buzz’ every time."

Clearly, Gina thinks jewelry goes far beyond obvious attributes such as shiny and pretty. "I've always loved charms and jewelry. Each piece is like a little trophy that commemorates a special moment in time," says Gina. "When I wear my charm bracelet, it reminds of me of what's most important in my life—family, friends, and home." And, of course, it has to look fabulous too.

She's an uptown girl living in an uptown world with an innate sense of style and glamour, but she's also a wife and mother of four children.
