i love my scarf

For my last birthday , my fabulous girlfriends gave me the perfect gift.  The flat orange box with brown ribbon.  You know the one.  I'd love the gift even if the box was empty but... lucky me.. it contained a beautiful Hermes scarf!    I have been obsessed with Hermes since the beginning of time. So, of course,  when I was thinking of styling our photo shoot, I happily brought out my collection of scarves.

How to wear them?  I love the luxe boho look of the large scarf worn as a cap.  Unfortunately, hair and makeup ultimately didn't work with the scarf idea.  I'm not giving up.  Check out the video Hermes so cleverly put together.  The street style version of Hermes.  Perfect inspiration.

Its about that time...

Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic but I have the urge to wear a watch.  I haven't worn one in awhile because my iphone has become , not only my lifeline , but also my international time clock.  However, lately, I've begun to notice how sad my left wrist looks.  There has definitely been a few watches on my radar but private school tuition seems to get first dibs over luxury item purchases these days. But wait. Shhhh!   Listen.... do you hear that?... it's the Hermes store and it's calling my name.

The Medor Watch

Sadly, this watch is no longer in production so I will have to look to ebay to scratch this itch.

A classic and surprisingly, the silver metal does not clash with the Cartier love bracelet.  I tried this on in a double grey ostrich strap  with the silver palladium watch.  It was a thing of beauty.

Lovely Lisa from Viola Lovely

There is nothing more gratifying for a designer than finding someone who immediately gets your designs.  Recently I had the good fortune of meeting Lisa Cancelli owner of Viola Lovely in Concord and Wenham, MA.  She stopped in the Charmed Circle booth and immediately started playing with our new line of rings.  She stacked the Pyramid with 2 Bubble rings in varying sizes and stones.  She stacked the Lollipop with a Diamond Ball and a Bubble ring.  Her combinations looked amazing!

I love it when a customer gives me a whole new fresh perspective!  Check out her shops at www.violalovely.com.  Named as one of the "Best in Boston 2010", Viola Lovely boutiques are reminiscent of the beautiful little shops you might find in Paris.  The gardens  surrounding the shop looks amazing.  If you are in the area, please stop by and see Lisa.  I am sure she will give you fabulous ideas on how to wear the latest and the greatest!

Charmed Circle is now at Viola Lovely.

This is brilliant.  When I was looking for reasonably priced art to hang in my  house, I shopped the New York Times photography archives to find vintage images .  These still remain some of my favorite art pieces in my home.  The New York Times store came up with the excellent idea to ask 5 top interior designers to pick their 10 favorite photos from the archives.  These designers , Thom Felicia, Vicente Wolf, Kelly Wearstler, Laura Kirar, and Jonathan Adler—selected images reflective of their own design aesthetic.“Fifty Photographs”, prints starting at $199;  www.nytstore.com/FiftyPhotos

Ok.  I have 5 days to find an H&M near me to shop this limited edition Lanvin line by  Alber Elbaz!  Should I consider a road trip to Nevada?    Check out the video.  It's very David Lynch.

Ring Fit for a Princess

posted 2010 Aug by Gina Cartwright

I have been riveted to the news as of late.  The announcement of Prince William's engagement to the adorable Kate Middleton has captured my imagination and that of the majority of the world's female population.  Her engagement ring is the epitome of why I love jewelry.  The sapphire ring itself, although pretty, is not the most impressive jewelry I've ever seen.  The Garrard ring was purchased for only $60,000.  The fact that it was once worn by one of the most iconic women of the 20th century makes the ring invaluable to most.   I love that a man would give a ring that was once worn by the woman he loved as a child, to a woman that he adores now.  The history of the ring is what is invaluable.  Jewelry should reflect your personal history.

If there wasn't already a Diana Ring, I might have preferred something along the lines of these sapphire rings.  The Art Deco design is definitely my fave.  You can be fairly certain that whatever Prince W. pulled out of his rucksack in Kenya, she would have said yes.
